As we walk, we try to keep up with doings in the outside world, which has mostly been far too hot. A marketing email from a rather interesting company in Cambridge (the real Cambridge in England, that is) included this snippet which seems quite apposite as we trudge along, dripping sweat.
We enjoyed an exuberant spring of the very best kind—sunny and clear in the daytime, cool breeze at night—and now the pendulum has swung still further, as pendulums so often do, past the point of maximum comfort and into the realm of Too Much of a Good Thing. In fact we hope for the temperature to fall a little so that we can enjoy the superabundance of wildflowers and the rioting roses instead of cowering inside in the shade.

In many ways it is - but very much more so. Gros Morne is exposed mantle rocks while Iceland is mostly a thick layer of volcanic larva over the top.
I still enjoy the mix of birds, plants and insects. Maybe more about trees too? Where were those botanists on your postcard? It almost looks like Newfoundland.
