A Brown Thrasher - located from a distance by his clear singing. Related to Mocking birds they are another of those species with a wide song repertoire. Cornell say that they “may sing more than 1,100 different song types and include imitations of other birds, including Chuck-will’s-widows, Wood Thrushes, and Northern Flickers”.
Black-faced Ferrets … a good news story

Your commentary that the Brown Thrasher may "sing more than 1,100 different song types" is fascinating. Gordon Lightfoot may have finally have met his match in the world of prolific songwriters.
Interesting article. It would have been nice to read some mention of Canada's role in saving the Bison. Too bad the author has overlooked that aspect of the Bison's return. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the black-footed ferret which no longer exists in Canada - mostly because prairie dogs have also been eliminated here.
