Join me for a Boxing Day Walk
26 December 2025
Thank you to everyone who has come along on my walks throughout the year. The day after Christmas (known as Boxing Day in Britain) is one day when it at least used to be traditional for close friends and family to take a walk and shake down the excesses of Christmas meals and drinks. If Christmas in your part of the world this year is not a white one, let me invite you to join me on a short snowy ramble close to my suburban home.
Here we have snow enough for everyone.)
Walking is man’s best medicine. (Hippocrates)
The Christmas ham is metabolizing, the wrapping paper is in the recycling bin, the dishes are taking a bath, the kids have scattered, and the rain is letting up; time for a walk. No day is quite complete without a good walk (Anon)
In my afternoon walk I would fain forget all my morning occupations and my obligations to society. (Henry David Thoreau)
I have never been in a natural place and felt that it was a waste of time. I never have. And it’s a relief. If I’m walking around a desert or whatever, every second is worthwhile.(Viggo Mortensen)

If walking is not your 'Thing' , please permit a 90 year young(?} man to suggest that a good dog may be the answer.
Good walking and best wishes for the forthcoming year.
Happy Boxing Day, and wishing you a peaceful and healthy New Year. You still have a couple of days to make 100 🐦. Or did you get there with the bunting?
