Monarch and Frog
18 July
Something different found on recent walks … not particularly rare, but you do have to peer into the shadows or turn a leaf back sometimes.

A Green Frog (Lithobates clamitans)… and that is its official common name, not just a simple description.
As you would expect, Green Frogs are found near to bodies of water, living at the margins of shallow freshwater ponds, road-side ditches, lakes, swamps, and streams. They are becoming more and more endangered with climate change, habitat loss, exposure to pesticides and other noxious substances and various diseases.
