Sunday Break
27 July
I don’t have much to offer you this Sunday other than an assurance that normal service will be resumed in a week’s time. This weekend we are busily entertaining family visitors from across the ocean, not seen since the other side of covid, who prefer to be “Out Walking” than writing about it. Wise people. Quite thick smoke from forest fires out west is hiding the sun and limiting visibility across the lake/river, while there may be thunder later today. Joy.
But you are here now, and I don’t want you to go away empty-handed, so … if you like birding and wonder where it might take you, here is an interesting account of a very serious birder indeed who has been chasing birds in Canada. Even if birds are not your thing, it’s an interesting mini-biography of a naturalist.

Cool read, thanks. You guys are certainly certifiable but “mostly harmless”.
That brought back a lot of memories. I knew (know?) Bruce by sight from Pelee in the spring. Tom Hince was a birding mentor for me as well back in the day when he was a Park ranger at Pelee. I remember some of these birds, too. Good memories.
