Two things … and I will keep them short:
Whilst Out Walking has been filling your Sunday inboxes for three and a half years, and it will always remain free. Nevertheless, in a bid to reach more readers (it’s something to do with Substack’s algorithms) I recently added a paid option, with all proceeds going, not to my pocket, but to Nature Conservation Canada. I’m excited to share that yesterday my bank received a bit over $300 from Substack, which after the weekend, will be winging its way to the NCC.
Hence … Thank you.
Of course, if you want to support the NCC you could just give them a direct donation instead. I’d encourage you to do so. However, by sending your donations via a subscription to Whilst Out Walking you can look forward to not missing any editions and also receiving a personalized seasonal card to put on your mantelpiece at the winter solstice. Who could resist?
Secondly, I’d like to share my other Substack, “Postcards from an old bookshop”. When Buster and I took our six-week walking break this summer, our weekly “postcards” were such a surprise hit that I’ve decided to keep them going, and have settled on a consistent theme. Subscribers will receive occasional virtual postcards featuring one of my better images and a short note on the back. It’s completely free, and I’d be really pleased if you would join us. The usual Whilst Out Walking will be with you on Sunday - this time with more photos than usual.
