Still no returning warblers, but it’s very early in the migration season so that’s not unexpected. But I do have a couple of fun mini-videos from the waterfall trail cam. A smart female Northern Cardinal, a Hermit Thrush bathing and a pair of night-time raccoons.
Because I write about wildlife gardening here from time to time, I know that there are serious gardeners in the audience. This is going off at a slight tangent, but some of you may be interested … When I am not “out walking,” I am involved with a community garden that grows fresh produce for donation to local food banks. Very successfully too - we are now in our twelfth season. The reason for mentioning this is that this year we are documenting - lots of photos - the season from start to finish and, the fun bit, posting the results on a new Substack. Should this interest you, even tangentially, here is the link:
Such a crisp first image of that White-throated Sparrow, Richard. I like the nighttime video of the Raccoons. Haha, nice capture. They looked like they forgot they had an appointment somewhere and left quickly. We've got the Yellow-rumped Warblers down here in Ottawa. I think some others as well have arrived - I could have sworn I heard Pine Warblers on my hike last weekend - no visual yet though. Thanks for sharing.
